Cloudscape-II delivers important insights into the current and future cloud computing landscape in Europe with interoperability for innovation in commercial and research settings firmly mind.

The computing infrastructure use case scenario on 22 February spotlights practical use cases with current providers, the SAP use in the EC-funded project RESERVOIR, and on the implementation efficiently cloud services over a grid infrastructure. OGF’s Open Computing Interface (OCCI) Working Group showcases its implementations in several use cases.

High-profile representatives from Microsoft and Microsoft, Fabrizio Gagliardi, EMEA Director at Microsoft Research and Chair of OGF-Europe’s Industry Expert Group and John Vassallo, Microsoft Vice President for European Affairs and Associate General welcome participants to the Networking Cocktail at the Microsoft Executive Briefing Centre in Brussels.

At the Workshop on 23 February experts will spotlight use cases across diverse sectors, user needs of enterprise and the SME community, SME approaches to cloud services, commercial delivery models, and the virtual data centre.

The European Commission (EC) evaluates Europe’s position and challenges ahead in terms of e-Infrastructures and also presents a special Industry Expert Report on Cloud Computing. The outcomes of a survey evaluating the cloud computing security landscape with special emphasis on SMEs conducted by the European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA) are also presented.

The Workshop also takes a look at doing science on the web powered by clouds, the challenges facing the European Grid Initiative as it is set to transition to a sustainable gird infrastructure, policy perspectives for future infrastructures bringing value-add to both enterprise and research, as well as use cases developed during EU R&D initiatives, such as BREIN and RESERVOIR.
