Over the last few years, the EUMEDGRID vision has facilitated improvements at the technological level and fostered the know-how of networking and computing professionals across the Mediterranean. The resulting pilot grid infrastructure for research in the Mediterranean region opened up important opportunities to  optimize the usage of existing, limited storage and computing resources, improve accessibility and empower research groups from several domains.

EUMEDGRID-Support builds on these achievements with the spotlight on Europe and the Mediterranean and Middle-east regions through an open dialog aimed at increasing stakeholder and community awareness on the fundamental importance of e-Infrastructures with the ultimate goal of ensuring long-term sustainability.

As the project is set to kick off at the beginning of 2010, it joins forces with EUMEDCONNECT2 for a launch event of both project meetings and a dedicated day of a high impact agenda including speakers from the EC Delegation in Cairo, Project Coordinators and Egyptian invited speakers. Presentations will cover topics such as:

• International Cooperation
• e-Infrastructures in FP7
• EU-funded Projects focusing on the region
• Biology
• Health
• Earth Sciences
• and How to measure e-Infrastructures
